Which Moves Qualify?

Before you can start to add up the amounts you spent on your move, you have to determine whether your move met the IRS's requirements for a deductible move.

There are three parts to the test that you must meet:

• Was the move closely related to the start of work?
• Did the move meet the distance test?
• Did your work in the new location meet the time test?
• Do you need to follow any special rules for the military, retirees, and widowed persons?
